It's the holiday season...
December means we’re in the full swing of the holiday season, which means it’s time for company holiday parties. While holiday parties are a great way to bring people together, show your appreciation, and reward employees for their hard work, there are some important precautions to take before the festivities as well. Issues such as attendance, cost, and inappropriate alcohol consumption can all make a holiday party more stressful than fun. Luckily, there’s an easy solution for many of these issues: an event check-in app.
Event coordinators often use check-in apps to speed up registration and entry into events. Depending on the size of your organization, this may be beneficial, but did you know that apps like stratus-io have tons of other features that can help your party run smoothly?
Attendance: Whether your employees always show up with 10 of their closest friends or are notorious no-shows, it’s important to know who attended your holiday party. Having this information can help you make decisions in the future, such as deciding on venue size, determining your food and drink budget, or creating incentives for employees to attend.
Raffles and door prizes: If you do need to incentivize attendance, raffles and door prizes are a great way to do it! Adding employees to a drawing as they arrive or handing out special gifts as they leave is a great way to get employees to attend (and to stay until the end of the party). Employees can check-in with their badges or from their phones and automatically enter their name into the raffle, or check-out as they leave to confirm they got their gift.
Transportation: If you’re having the party away from the office, you may organize shuttles to pick up employees or provide some other type of transportation there and back. Make sure to get the word out that the transportation is available and then have employees check-in when they use it. This ensures you have accurate headcounts and can adjust your transportation options accurately for future events.
Security: While some companies allow employees to bring guests, many holiday gatherings are strictly limited to employees only. Eliminate party crashers by using stratus-io to check people in and confirm their identity.
Drink tickets: If you offer alcohol at the party, overindulgence can be a major concern (and a potential liability). Keep consumption to a minimum by offering drink tickets to employees and automatically tracking ticket use with stratus-io.
Holiday parties can be hugely beneficial to employers and they’re also a chance for employees to kick back and relax before the new year. Productivity, happiness, and retention can all increase when employees feel valued and appreciated. While these are great reasons to keep holding these celebrations, make sure you’re taking the necessary precautions to ensure employees are safe, resources aren’t wasted, and your organization is protected.
